ILS Expects High Turnout

(Filed Under Fashion News). Despite economic woes, Specialty Trade Shows Inc. anticipates a high turnout at their upcoming International Lingerie Show (ILS) in Las Vegas from April 20th to the 22nd. According to a company spokesman, Michael Moriera, the show’s designated exhibitor slots of 200 sold out “faster than any other show I have ever organized." Additionally, more companies than he had anticipated signed up for early registration.

“We were a little bit unsure earlier this year because of the economy,” Moriera said. “But now we have very promising signs of a tremendous show, and we are extremely pleased.”

Moriera attributes the tradeshow’s success to the energy Spectrade has put into making ILS the “best trade show in the lingerie industry.” He believes that buyers will attend ILS this year because of the reputable brands that consistently showcase new products including Leg Avenue, Shirley of Hollywood, Dreamgirl, Coquette, Ellie Shoes, Elegant Moments, Music Legs, Forplay and Pleaser Shoes.

To pay heed to the recession, show organizers are encouraging exhibitors to include extra discounts and promotions on their products. This year’s ILS will include the main room, the Classique room, and the co-located Adult Halloween show from April 21st to 22nd, which Spectrade introduced in 2005 to provide a wider variety of products to buyers. Major exhibitors and supporters of the Adult Halloween show include Rubies, Disguise, Funworld and Smiffy’s, as well as ILS exhibitors who manufacture Halloween costumes.

Spectrade’s goal is for the Adult Halloween show to become the go-to costume show late in the season, which Moreira says is especially important for smaller retailers who, for cash-flow purposes, like the option of purchasing styles later in the season. Despite its name, this year for the first time exhibitors will showcase children’s costumes in addition to the sexy costumes the show is known for.

“We really want the costume end to click, and so we really opening it up this year,” Moreira said, adding that in the future they hope to include all Halloween-related products (maybe even candy.)
