Smart Underwire: The Next Revolution In Bras

(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). “A Smart Underwire is about to bring a revolutionary change to the comfort and fit of bras,” declared Matthew Fink of Fastech/S&S, a leading intimate apparel component supplier. “And we are leading the way with an extraordinary collection of patent pending products.”

Bra underwires, although they are a key component in structured bras, have not changed all that much over the last hundred years. “Wire makers have learned how to produce wires that are very rigid or very soft. But no one, until now, has come up with a way to inject both those properties into the same wire at the same time,” Fink declared.

“Fastech/S&S new wire flexes more when a woman moves front to back and less when she moves side to side. When she bends forward, it feels like she is wearing a soft wire that does not poke or dig into her, and it feels comfortable. Meanwhile our wire is much more rigid on the side to side axis, which means she is properly supported.”

“This is a revolutionary solution. And it is particularly timely since more women are wearing larger cup sizes, where extra support is needed. The larger the cup size, the more rigid the wires must be on the side to side axis. But with normal under wires, those extremely rigid wires dig in painfully when she bends forward.”

“That’s why most women with a D, E, or F or larger cups don’t want to wear an underwire bra,” Fink pointed out. “That is not a good situation for bra makers, with the market for plus size and large cup bras expanding so rapidly now.”

Fink added that Fastech/S&S’s new smart underwires can be engineered to provide a wide variety of different and predictable flexes along both the side to side and front to back axes. The wires also designed to precisely retain their shape and amount of flex. “This is an industry where shape and memory retention typically vary to 20%. Our wires stay within 3% of spec.”

“These new smart underwires will provide continued support, but even greater comfort for customers. This means your consumers will like their favorite bras even more than they did in the past. And the Fastech/S&S name means that your bra will feel and fit just the same every time she buys a new one.”

“What separates us is that we create products that include patented innovations, design improvements and better materials,” concluded Fink. “And when it comes to underwires, the difference between us and the fly-by-night suppliers is about to get much bigger. Underwires cost just a few cents, but this new smart wire will really mean the difference between keeping and losing that bra customer.”

In addition to underwires, Fastech is a leading source for many of the components that go into bras and other intimate apparel: hook and eye, underwires, front closures, rings and slides, charms, etc. Contact or go to
