(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Parfait Lingerie is about to open two of its own retail shops in India, one in Mumbai, the other in New Delhi, both offering only the company’s branded intimates.
In addition, the company plans to soon open smaller multi-brand outlets “housed in larger department stores alongside other brands” in the same two cities. To celebrate the launches, Parfait is planning a plus size lingerie show in India in January.
“Bringing Parfait to India allows our brand to continue fulfilling its mission in offering high-quality, stylish and affordable lingerie to women around the world,” declared Parfait co-founder, Ken Zhang. “According to recent statistics, over 90% of Indian women are wearing the wrong bra size. We hope to help change this by offering storefronts not only carrying lingerie of superior support, fit and quality, but by offering complimentary in-store bra fittings from our trained, knowledgeable staff as well. As a result, we hope to bring comfort, style and confidence to women living throughout India.”
The Indian stores will have “a strong focus on serving the full bust and plus-size markets,” according to the company announcement. “Currently under represented even with overwhelming demand, at present more than 60 percent of women in India wear some amount of plus-size clothing. Parfait aims to fill this gap by offering their full size range up to K cup and 4XL (varying by style), available in silhouettes from bras to sports bras, boy shorts to high waist briefs, babydolls to bustiers.” The India stores will carry “new styles alongside core best-sellers.” Parfait is also currently sold in over 20 countries.
Parfait reported that India’s fashion retail segment totaled $59 billion in 2017 and is expected to grow to $96 billion by the end of 2022. “India has positioned itself as one of the world’s most promising and exciting fashion retail markets for years to come. A perfect fit for Parfait, which has had branded storefronts top-of-mind following a decade of market testing, research and ultimate success in the global brick-and-mortar retail market. Together with India’s rapidly growing fashion retail space, the decision to launch Parfait’s first storefronts in the South Asian country comes as a natural evolution for the brand.” The company added that “further international expansion” will follow.
“With over 12 years of retail experience, I can foresee Parfait making history in India’s lingerie market as an exclusive plus-size lingerie storefront retailer that caters to the under served plus-size market with stylish and supportive pieces,” predicted Parfait India director Akhil Srivastava. “We stand behind women because we know women come in all shapes and sizes.”
