(Filed Under Fashion News). Hong Kong-based Esprit has named Ronald Van der Vis as the company's new executive director effective this June. In addition, Van der Vis will become the company's CEO on or before November 1, 2009 and hold responsibilities for both positions.
Current chairman and CEO, Heinz Krogner, will simultaneously resign upon Van der Vis succeeding his role, but will actively participate as executive chairman to ensure a smooth transition until December 2010.
“Ronald is an excellent match for the Esprit family, both in terms of business background and personality,” said Krogner. “His appointment as Esprit’s new Group CEO is particularly based on his successful international retail experience. Since over 50% of Esprit's sales [are] based on wholesales to independent stores, it is important that Esprit is headed by a CEO who understands the requirements of our retail partners.”
This news follows other announcements of structural changes within the business including the resignation of Thomas Johannes Grote as brand president effective June 30th, in addition to a recent announcement citing Jan Erik van Dijk as the company's new global marketing director effective June 1st.
Esprit produces a variety of fashion products within its many product lines, which encompass apparel for men, women and children. Beginning in 1999 Esprit introduced underwear to the lineup with its Bodywear line.
