(Filed Under Wholesale Swimwear News). After a limited launch this past December to gauge customer response, swimwear company Zoë NYC officially launched their T-shirt bikini in stores on March 15th.
Entitled Panarea, the T-shirt bikini runs in one-size-fits-most at a retail price range of $85 to $110, with Zoë NYC's entire line retailing between $80 and $350.
According to the company's owner and designer, Zoë Haggerty, retailers currently carrying the company's swimwear include Atrium in Miami, Barneys, Curves N Waves in Coral Gables, Florida and Canyon Beachwear in Los Angeles.
Although Panarea is new to consumers, Haggerty said she came up with the idea two years ago while on a yacht off of the coast of Panarea, Sicily.
"We didn't have any suits with us, so we cut up jersey tees that the crew wore and made makeshift bikinis," Haggerty explained. "Everyone on board become instantly infatuated with the suits' simplicity and versatility."
Made from 85 percent cotton and 15 percent Lycra, Panarea includes seamless raw edges designed so that the waistline can be rolled up. Additionally, the ties can be manipulated to "fit the beachgoer's desire."
Shades include asphalt, brick, brown and black, and the company described the style as "essentially what the plain white T-shirt is to fashion right now - a chic, yet understated look for the fashion savvy."
Zoë NYC is a four-year-old luxury beachwear company based in New York City with products made in Italy.
