(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Necessities by Sherrie, a profitable and well known lingerie shop in the Atlanta area is for sale. No, the pandemic is not prompting the sale, but rather a recent change of jobs to Texas, on the part of the husband of shop owner, Sherrie Strong.
“I would love to continue operating the store myself, but commuting from Texas every few weeks on a regular basis, as I have been doing for the past few months, is just not sustainable,” Strong told BODY. “So I have decided to pass the store along to someone else. I am keeping selling price very low because the community needs this store and I want to make sure it continues on.”
Necessities by Sherrie was opened in 2004 in Snellville, about 45 miles east of Atlanta on a major highway. In addition to a prominent locations, low rent and limited competition, the 2800 square foot shop has a strong following. “The women in this affluent community have always supported us, for the quality bras we offer and the expert fittings we have always offered.” The store’s website is http://necessitiesbysherrie.com/
According to Strong, the “bread and butter brands” at the shop include Elomi, Goddess, Sculptresse, Fantasie and Wacoal. They also carry Prima Donna, Empreinte, Le Mystere, On Gossamer, Scarlett Blue, Triumph, Elila, Anita and Rosa Faia, Freya and Fitfully Yours. Shapewear brands include Body Hush and BodyWrap. “We offer over 120 individual bra sizes in the store with band sizes ranging from 28 – 52 and cup size AA – K. Shapewear and underwear sizes range from XS to 4XL.”
“Our customer base has changed over the years as the Atlanta metro area is a very fluid,” continued Strong. “Currently our shoppers are about 60% African American and 30% everyone else. Many times, we are fitting mothers, daughters, grandmothers all within the same family at the same time. We also have an extraordinarily strong referral base.” She continued, “Our market is willing to spend money on undergarments, mainly in the mid-range price point, $50-$82 per bra.”
