(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). In signing a contract with a U.S. based distribution service, the Calzedonia Group has taken another significant step in its expansion across the U.S. Since launching here in 2017, the company has already opened almost 50 stores, selling Intimissimi lingerie and knitwear, and Calzedonia legwear and swimwear.
Port Logistics Group/Whiplash (PLG/WL), a provider of omnichannel fulfillment services, announced the “multi-year logistics contract to provide nationwide fulfillment and distribution services in the U.S. market,” adding that “the Calzedonia U.S. warehouse currently operates out of PLG/WL’s state-of-the-art Newark facility, offering 432,000 sq ft. of fully automated distribution capabilities.” It noted that it will serve “both their online and offline channels.”
Calzedonia, which was launched in Italy in 1986, now claims “almost 5,000 total stores across 54 countries.” It owns several other brands including Falconeri (cashmere knitwear), Tezenis (underwear and apparel), Atelier Emé and SignorVino.
“It was no longer practical for us to continue fulfilling U.S. orders from our distribution centers in Europe. With ecommerce growth far outstripping initial forecasts, we needed to pivot our strategy,” explained Marcello Veronesi, CEO of Calzedonia U.S.A. “Port Logistics Group/Whiplash has extensive experience working with large fashion retailers and was able to integrate completely with our existing management systems.”
