(Filed Under wholesale Sleepwear News). Claudel Lingerie and its various brands, including Comfort & Co, grew during the challenging 2021 year. BODY publisher Nick Monjo interviewed the company’s Anny-Claude Lapierre about the achievement.
LAPIERRE: The current pandemic has encouraged us to learn and expand our business to different online platforms. Since our strongest suit is wholesale distribution, we’ve involved different third parties to our project, and it has significantly improved our flow of sales. We have also shown more presence on social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook, which showed a direct impact to our increased sales.
MONJO: Tell me more about your Hudson Bay business. I understand they told you that you were their only supplier that delivered complete orders and on time.
LAPIERRE: Indeed. Our production team had taken in consideration that shipping delays were unpredictable and unstable. Even though we did experience backlogs and delays, we were able to deliver in full and on time to our biggest customer. The buyer was very happy to let us know that not only were we a top selling vendor, but also a top vendor in distribution and logistics.
As a brand, this greatly benefits us for future bookings and negotiations. For Fall/Winter 2022, we can expect more holiday packaged pajama sets, more loungewear and sleepwear with natural fibers. To date, our holiday gift set has shown a 95% check out rate after a 5-week selling period. By the end of the first week of December, the collection was nearly sold out.
MONJO: How was Claudel able to fulfill orders and stay on schedule during these difficult times?
LAPIERRE: Considering the important backlog at the ports, we significantly accelerated our design and product time to avoid logistic problems.
MONJO: What are some of the expected best sellers in the upcoming Spring 2022 collection?
LAPIERRE: Any group with a floral print is expected to be a best seller for Spring. However, loungewear is still going strong. Since most are still working from home, we believe it will be the most important category this year.
MONJO: What else would you like to tell buyers about your Spring collection?
LAPIERRE: Size scale is more inclusive this season, running up to XXL for the greater majority of our collection. It is still possible to re-order from the “Made in Montreal” collection. New colors will be added for the Spring season and can be expected to be available towards Mother’s Day.
