(Filed Under wholesale Plus Size News). Bratique Helene, a niche clothing line catering to full-busted women, has just opened up to the wholesale distribution channel and is offering its classic long-sleeve button up shirt as the first product to become available at lingerie retailers.
Carissa Brown, founder and designer of the five-month-old company, will be adding a camisole to the line-up, scheduled to hit stores this August.
The classic long sleeve shirt features the company’s trademarked hooks and eyes closure, which is covered to offer a crisp and clean silhouette. It is available in sizes S though XL in black and white and wholesales for $45. In stores, the product retails for $90.
The camisole, made from 97 percent stretch silk charmeuse and 3 percent cotton, will be offered in warm chocolate brown and black, and will wholesale for $37.50 and retail for $75.
In addition to offering a product designed strictly for women measuring at a cup size of at least D/DD, Bratique Helene offers personalized customer service and has liaisons with all the local lingerie retailers and the intimates departments at department stores.
“We offer complementary full bust bra shopping in the Dallas area,” said Brown. “We make an appointment with a woman at the store that will cater best to her needs, both size needs and specific bra needs – for example, if she’s looking for a seamless, balcony, molded, etc. bra, we know which local retailer will fit the bill. We work with said client and the lingerie retailer to fit her. The local retailers benefit from the extra business and the client gets the best bra for her. Bratique Helene doesn’t generate any revenue from this activity; it’s customer service. Even if at this point these are non-paying customers.”
As a “full bust bra aficionado since the mid-90’s,” Brown says her goal is to operate a chain of concept stores for the full-busted woman with her branded lingerie, swimwear and clothing. “Our next critical move in terms of product is a one-button blazer, moving into outerwear,” she said.
Currently, Brown’s products are available at a variety of lingerie retailers including Loretta’s Intimates of Plano and Night & Day Lingerie in Andover.
“I think it’s a great product,” said Audrey Fritts, manager of Loretta’s Intimates. “The ladies seem very happy, which is really nice to see. A lot of [full-busted women] don’t have anything they can really fit into, so we’ve had a lot of interest from them.”
Additionally, Bra*Tenders in NYC have purchased samples and are interested in carrying the line in the fall, said Brown.see more
