(Filed Under Financial and General Interest News). Urban Outfitters, Inc. reported an overall decline in sales for the first quarter ended April 30th citing a 2 percent drop to $385 million from $394 million during last April’s quarter.
Comparable retail segment sales, including direct-to-consumer channels, decreased by 7 percent, while comparable store sales at Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and Free People decreased 6 percent, 13 percent and 23 percent respectively.
During the quarter, the company opened five new stores including one Urban Outfitters, two Anthropologies and two Free People locations, totaling at 298 retail locations between the three.
During the fiscal year, the company plans on opening an additional 42 locations.
