(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Eight & Eight International is expanding beyond their low-end niche with Intimate Moments by JL, their new line of bras, panties and control bottoms geared toward mid-tier retailers.

The 10-year-old, New Jersey-based manufacturer of imported Chinese lingerie plans to begin shipping the spring/summer Intimate Moments by JL line-up on May 25th, for an in-store launch of mid-June. Wholesale prices will range from $2.25 to $5 per item, or $27 to $60 per dozen, with sizes running from 34B to 42DD, and S through 3X.

Stuart Wolf, the company’s director of sales and merchandising, anticipated that bras would retail for around $9 to $12 “giving retailers a good mark up, and the consumer an affordable, high-quality garment.”

While Eight & Eight’s preexisting line Lily is sold at the discount stores including Shopper’s World, Conway, S & M and CH Martin, Intimate Moments will be seen at mid-range chains and specialty stores including the Hosiery City chain, Terminal Lingerie in Jamaica, NY, and Jennifers Ladies Wear in the Bronx, NY.

Wolf described the line as “similar to what you would see at Macy’s,” with jacquards, pastel stripes, and solid and lace combinations seen throughout. Spring/summer designs will include basic colors as well as lime green, pink, and yellow, while the fall shades will include red, dark green and gray, among others.

“I don’t see too much of what we are offering out there, which are upscale goods at an affordable price,” Wolf commented. “When we take off the labels and show the line to people, they don’t believe the wholesale value.”

Although Wolf acknowledged that sales slumped in January due to the recession, he has seen an increase in the last few months. The company, which houses a staff of 50, anticipates that the new line will bring in an additional $1 million in sales within the next year.

Wolf estimated that, prior to the crisis, Eight & Eight was making about $5 million in sales per year, and has averaged at an approximate increase in revenue of 3 1/2 percent per year since inception.

Founded by brother and sister Simon and Jean Li, Eight & Eight is based in Closter, New Jersey. For further information, call Stuart Wolf at (201) 767-2088, or email him at Stuart@EightandEight.com.
