(Filed Under wholesale Activewear News). Founded in 2001 by fitness expert Janis Saffell, Couture Active Wear now boasts over 85 versatile styles, including bras, camis, tops/cover-ups, jackets, shorts, capris, long bottoms and accessories.
Available in one size, S/M and M/L, Saffell designs styles with specific sports in mind, for example: “Yoga collections consist of bras, shorts and capris [and] Pilate collections incorporate pieces with longer tops and very body conscious silhouettes,” she said. “We personally try on every single sample during the production phase to ensure the essential perfect fit for each collection is accomplished before we start production.”
The 85 plus styles wholesale at a range of $16.50 to $70, and retail between $33 and $140.
Although black always serves as a staple, the collections are also very colorful and feature pinks, lemons, limes, blues, purples and chocolates. Embellishments are also a staple and metal work is prominently featured throughout. “We use metal work to accent bra straps, belt loops with rhinestone detail, metal heart charms attached to end ties, metal heart grommets, logo rivets and snaps, and specially designed pockets that make us stand out from the rest,” said Saffell.
Inspired by “everyday life and activities, world travels and the fashion runway,” Saffell’s designs are versatile as many styles can be worn as loungewear and streetwear in addition to activewear.
“Our tag line is from the gym to the streets, and you can really wear [Couture Active Wear] from the gym to the streets,” said Jessica Lilenfield, one of five owners of recently franchised Stretchalicious. “The line is very functional [and] is a great fashion forward athletic line. It is probably one of our top lines.” In total, Stretchalicious carries 20 to 30 activewear lines.
Stretchalicious carries the entire Couture line and dedicates an entire store section to the products. “It’s actually one of our main lines that we have for our franchisees, [it’s] a staple in their store,” said Lilenfield. “With that being said, it sells very well.”
