(Filed Under Fashion News). On June 12th, the Fashion and Textile Museum in London will open a new exhibition titled Undercover: The Evolution of Underwear. The show traces the "evolution of underwear from health garment, shape definer to fashion 'must have,'" and explores a number of themes including "Stars and their bras," which focuses on celebrity branding. Other parts of the show look at the impact of research and innovation on the types of underwear the consumer wears; as well as how advertising and marketing reflects social and cultural changes.
A wide range of private and public collections including items by Triumph, La Perla, Elle Macpherson and Wonderbra will be available for viewing.
To celebrate the exhibition, La Perla created two exclusive and limited edition pieces: a boudoir macrame mask, retailing for about $46; and a lace corset cuff for approximately $39. The pieces will only be available for purchase at the museum.
The exhibition runs through September 27th.
