(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Lovely Planet, the U.S. division of French lingerie and adult toy company Maison Close, is introducing a new collection entitled Villa Satine this August in conjunction with a new catalog.
“This will mark the beginning of us coming out with new lines of lingerie with every catalog,” Rebecca Pinette-Dorin, the company’s U.S. manager, said.
Made with satin with lace embellishments, Villa Satine comes in black and runs in sizes S through XL at a wholesale range of $12 to $46, which Pinette-Dorin said is “less expensive than previous lines.” Pinette-Dorin described the collection as having a “night to day feeling” with pieces including a bustier to skirt combo, which, while sexy, could be worn out on the town. Other silhouettes include a garter, a thong, a panty, and a panty and collar combo called the Jade Harness, among others.
Maison Close, previously exclusively an adult toy distributor, introduced lingerie in Europe in January 2008, and a few months later launched Lovely Planet in the United States with a staff of three (In total, the company employs 35 people). Although Pinette-Dorin admitted to a slow start due to the economy, she added that since December sales have been steadily increasing.
Boutiques nationwide currently carrying Lovely Planet include the Dasha boutique in Washington state, certain Pleasure Chest stores, Intima Girl in San Francisco, and La Petite Coquette and Journelle in New York City.
Claire Chambers, CEO of Journelle, commented:
“We carry several of their items, and I think just about every woman in New York who has had a bridal shower recently probably has purchased one of their feather ticklers from us,” she said. “Their products are good quality, the right price point, and have a little bit of a naughty French feel.”
Although Pinette-Dorin said it’s hard to pin-down a typical Lovely Planet customer in terms of age and socioeconomic background, she said:
“The kind of woman we gear our products towards is someone who wants something beautiful, pretty and classy.” She added, “Our goal is to take sensual products ‘out of ghetto’ and make them nice, classy and fun.”
Lovely Planet is based in Miami, Florida. For more, call Rebecca Pinette-Dorin at (305) 573-8377.
