(Filed Under wholesale Men's Underwear News). In a wide departure from last year’s Filmography themed launch, this June Unico Interior is introducing a nature-inspire collection dubbed Mundo Natural.
“All of our collections have a theme,” Olga Oggioni, general manager of Unico’s Miami distribution office, said. “Mundo Natural is inspired by the tropics and wildlife, with a lot of prints and details related to nature, like waistbands that bring to mind reptile skin.”
Sold in hit boutiques nationwide, including Beach Essentials in Rehoboth Beach, Del., Pride Factory in Fort Lauderdale, Fl., and Malebox in Virginia Beach, Va., Mundo Natural runs at an average wholesale price of $10 and a retail value of $25. As with the company’s other merchandise, the collection will run in sizes S through XL, but “tends to run on the small side,” Oggioni cautioned. The 50 plus styles include short and mid-length boxers, briefs, bikinis, thongs, and board shorts. Garments are made from a blend of 93 percent cotton and 7 percent spandex, and a microfiber fabric blended with spandex, polyester or nylon, depending on the piece. Oggioni said the collection’s colors range from pinks to intense ocean blues to subdued grays.
Deb Ruby, general manager of Beach Essentials, reported a positive customer response to Unico since adding the brand one year ago.
“The gentlemen love it. They say [Unico’s underwear] are very comfortable and the colors are fun. We also carry their swimwear, and I sold three pairs of their board shorts within the first half an hour we added them!” She said. “They also sent us a wonderful video of a photo shoot which the customers love watching. [Additionally], their prices are really reasonable.”
Oggioni described the company’s client base as fashion-conscious, middle to upper class men in the 25 to 45-years-old age range. Although Oggioni could not state the exact sales growth the company experienced since it’s inception 15 years ago, she reported that it has “grown enormously” from a small, local Colombian company, to one with a presence in 22 countries, headquarters in Colombia, a distribution center in Miami, Fl, as well as offices in Mexico and Peru. Unico employs approximately 200 people worldwide, and five in-house staff in Miami.
