Cervin Debuts Cashmere Tights & Knitwear

(Filed Under wholesale Hosiery News). For the autumn/winter 2009/10 collection, Cervin is introducing a luxurious cashmere legging and tights, and a new opaque Micromodal tights that comes in 4 colors. The collection will be available through Samantha Chang at Showroom 1122 in New York City, and she will be showing the line at the upcoming CurveNY show. According to Chang, this fall will be all about "tights, tights and tights!"

The cashmere legging wholesales for $92 and retails for approximately $200. Chang defends the style's price by citing that it is a top quality cashmere tights that will last for years to come. "They probably are the best feeling tights I've ever touched," she said.

Cervin says it is the first company to have the benefit of using the Black Lycra logo from Invista, and since it is black, it doesn't shine through the black tights. Cervin's products are all made in France, and it continues to make a line of fully fashioned stockings with one-of-a-kind machines that have been around since the 1950's.

The company's full wholesale range is between $5 for a basic Nylon tight, up to $92 for the cashmere legging; and the retail range is $11.50 to $212. Sizes range from 1, with most styles reaching up to a size 6.

"Cervin's target customer ranges from a sexy woman, an elegant lady to an everyday girl—it's extremely versatile," said Chang. "I think Cervin is a pioneer in seam stockings; [it] is closely tied to the world of burlesque."

Also new is Cervin's luxury knitwear category—a market the company is tapping into for the first time. The collection is made of seamless natural fibers and feature lace inlaying. For summer 2010, Cervin has made double-sided and reversible seamless tops in 50 percent cotton and 50 percent silk. According to Serge Massal of Cervin, "We are the first company in France to make double-sided and reversible [tops]."
