(Filed Under Fashion News). New York City, already home to most American big names, will welcome a Nordstrom Rack in Spring 2010. The off-price division of Nordstrom, Inc. will sit at One Union Square South at 32,136-square-feet.

"We're pleased to announce the first Manhattan Nordstrom Rack," Scott Meden, president of Nordstrom Rack, said. "This is a rare opportunity that opened at the right time for us. Union Square is a thriving retail area and is an ideal location for the city's first Rack."

Related Companies is the Real-estate firm responsible for opening the Union Square Rack. Jeff T. Blau, president of the company, remarked: "Nordstrom is one of the nation's leading fashion retailers and we are delighted that they have chosen Union Square, one of New York City's most desirable commercial destinations for their first Manhattan Nordstrom Rack store."

The Nordstrom Rack will occupy the lower level of the former Virgin Megastore below a 22-story residential rental tower. The chain carries merchandise from full-price Nordstrom stores at 50 to 60 percent off original prices, including intimates by prime brands such as Hanky Panky, Chantelle, Betsey Johnson, Calvin Klein, Cosabella, Natori, Huit and Honeydew Intimates.

Now all the city needs is a Neiman Marcus.
