It also seemed like Victoria Secret was the often the only option for women of all shapes and sizes. So sometime in late 2006, they decided to turn their discontent into a viable business and started Bia Bella, now a Boca-Raton-based boutique lingerie manufacturer with 20 high-quality lines, with bras ranging from sizes 32A-36D and wholesale prices of around $28. They carry panty and bra sets, baby dolls, corsets, and sleepwear. President Garcia, who is more of the "design girl" and Vice President Medaglia, who handles the business side, bring the apparel from Colombia, and it now being sold at boutiques throughout the United States (with the biggest concentration in Florida), Canada, Western Europe, and Panama City, Panama.

"We wanted to bring a little Colombian quality to the US," Medalgia said.

Although Bia Bella faced some obstacles in getting up and running, for the past two months they have increasing success with a number of the 20 products they currently offer. The highest-selling bra and panty set is the 'Embroidered dreams' (Bra #1003, and panty #p1003) which consists of a soft bra and ribbon-decorated thong, both made of sheer lace dotted with delicate blue and yellow flowers, and is especially popular among young women between the ages of 18 and 40. Their black diamond product (#1010), which is spandex and lycra body suit with a diamond accessory attaching the top and panties, for a wholesale price of $28 and a retail price of $56. Owner Tony Zafarino and Manager Stella Abraanchez of Evol Boutique in Parkland, Florida, which carries Bia Bella products, have noticed an excellent customer response to the Bia Bella products.

"Our customers think it's a thousand times better than Victoria Secret and I agree. It feels nice, it looks nice, the designs are unique, and the color patterning is unbelievable," Zafarino said.

In winter 2009 Bia Bella will expand their product offerings by developing bras that combine comfort with style, so that women no longer have to chose between the two. New bras will have simple cups and stylish, possibly diamond-studded, straps.

"We have noticed that women are showing their straps a lot these days, so the straps will be stylish, but the base will be simple."

Bia Bella will also release lingerie for spring and summer that can be worn both in the bedroom and out on the town, such as with jeans. The new corseted lingerie will also be very form-fitting and designed to slim the waist.
