The TJX Companies, Inc. reported promising results for the second quarter ended August 1st, 2009, with net sales increasing 4 percent from last year’s second quarter, and diluted earnings per share from continuing operations up 27 percent, to 61 cents from 48 cents.
For the first half of fiscal 2009, net sales totaled at $9.1 billion, a 3 percent increase, and year-to-date consolidated comparable store sales grew 3 percent.
Off-price retailer The TJX Companies, Inc. operates 882 T.J. Maxx; 811 Marshalls; 323 Homegoods; and 141 A.J. Wright stores in the United States, as well as 203 Winners; 75 HomeSense and three STYLESENSE stores in Canada. In Europe, the company operates 244 T.K. Maxx and 8 Homesense stores.
