The Underfashion Club has announced the 2010 Femmy Awards—scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 2nd at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City—will honor retailer Macy's, manufacturer Felina Lingerie and Global supplier Regina Miracle International Ltd. The lifetime achievement award will go to Gwen Widell, senior vice president of merchandising for Wacoal America, Inc., while Bare Necessities will receive the innovation award.
According to the Underfashion Club, the Femmy Awards honors individuals and companies that have “significantly contributed to the intimate apparel industry and its growth,” adding: “The gala is recognized as one of the premier events in the intimate apparel industry.” Walter Costello, president of the Underfashion Club, commented: “We are delighted to announce our 2010 honorees, who will join us in our ongoing efforts to raise funds to promote education, innovation and growth within the intimate apparel industry.”
The Femmy 2010 gala will also host its 7th annual student design contest featuring Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) students designs. The student's designs will be displayed that evening and three of the designers will receive cash awards based on attendees' selections.
Profits from the Femmy award gala support the organization's scholarship, award, internship and grants programs.
