(Filed Under Fashion News). Wal-Mart stores, Inc. has hired Scott Price, former chief executive officer at DHL Express Europe, as president and chief executive officer of Wal-Mart Asia.
Price will begin employment in Wal-Mart regional Hong Kong office on October 15th. He will be responsible for the company's current operations in China, India and Japan, as well as business development in the Asian region. He will report to Doug McMillon, president and chief executive officer of Wal-Mart International. The company's Asian presence is comprised of more than 100,000 associates and approximately 630 units in China, India and Japan.
Prior to his employment at DHL—which, in addition to to his role at DHL Europe, included executive positions at DHL Express Asia Pacific and DHL Express Japan—he worked for the Coca Cola Company for 10 years.
"Scott brings tremendous global and regional experience and expertise to this position. He is the ideal candidate to lead this highly competitive region," McMillon said. "In his roles with Coca Cola and DHL, he has established a history of delivering results in the Asian markets. He knows the countries, he knows the customers, he knows how to run a business and he knows the region's potential. We are eager to leverage his insight and capabilities to further our efforts in this region."

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. includes more than 8,000 retail units under 53 banners in 15 countries worldwide, and employs more than 2.1 million associates overall. The company's fiscal year 2009 sales totaled at $401 billion. In addition to other off-price merchandise, the retail giants carries intimates, swimwear, activewear and hosiery.
