(Filed Under wholesale Sleepwear News). Cloud Nine, an Alberta, Can.-based lounge and sleepwear retailer, is now under new ownership. The Stowe family—which consists of husband and wife Bill and Sam and their daughter Jessica Stowe—sold the store to the Zechel family. Attorney Robert (Bob) Zechel co-owns the store with his daughter Robyn Zechel, who serves as its manager. According to Bob, Robyn left university after one year when the opportunity to run Cloud Nine arose.
Bob reported that the Stowes “did a great job in establishing the store” and he and Robyn are “continuing their good work.” He described the store's customer base as mainly comprised of females aged 30 to 60 sized anywhere from XS to plus.
According to Robyn, under its new ownership she is maintaining the store's original motto: “Comfort as a Lifestyle.” “Everything from layout of the store to the numerous lines of pajamas, sleepshirts and robes has been chosen to help our customers feel their very best. We want to facilitate that 'ahhhhh' feeling,” she said.
Although she said it is difficult to pinpoint top-selling brands, most-requested styles include Carole Hochman, Pine Cone Hill and Elizabeth Cotton pajamas, and Barefoot Dreams' “lavish robes and hoodies.”
One category Cloud Nine does not delve into, Robyn said, is lingerie. “We don't actually carry any lingerie. We only carry Hanky Panky, but we buy them in a rolled-up version that doesn't even look like lingerie.”
Cloud Nine is located at 14716 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton, AB, T5N 3S4. For further information, call the store at (780) 455-6633.
