Since 2003, The Beehive Waxing Salon & Feminine Boutique has given the women of Southern California a one stop-shop of pampering products and services. True to its name, the retailer offers waxing services at its flagship location, but also carries lingerie; sleepwear; body lotions; massage oils and “tasteful adult treasures;” and even serves chocolate truffles and flavored coffees to patrons waiting for services or browsing the merchandise.

According to Genie Sutton, who wears several hats with the company, amongst them key buyer, the picturesque surroundings of San Diego-area Carlsbad also adds to the store’s appeal. It is located in a quaint beach community, nestled away from the hustle and bustle of life, she reported.

“Our clients come from all over San Diego, Orange County and Riverside County to shop for feminine treasures, receive the highest quality beauty services and escape their busy lives in an oasis of chocolate treasures, flavored coffees, crystal chandeliers [and] over-stuffed settees with adorning damask silk curtains,” she said.

“The ‘experience’ a shopper/client has is as important to us as the special feminine-focused gift items, special occasion lingerie sets, or one-of-a-kind unmentionables they find and must have!”

Brands that sell well for the retailer include René Rofé; Leg Avenue; Dreamgirl; Kama Sutra; Booty Parlor; Sweet Spot Labs; Nippies; Pink Sugar; and Jacqua.
Prices run from $5 to $100 and sizes from XS through XXL. Customers consist primarily of beauty conscious, active, working professional women ranging from 18 to 55-years-old. 20 percent of customers are men purchasing gifts for “the special women in their [lives].”

According to Sutton, The Beehive Salon & Feminine Boutique sets itself apart from competitors through its unique blend of beauty and retail services.

“We cross-pollinate our beauty and retail clients, and create events and promotions to foster special offers that inspire our clients to experience both our retail and beauty services,” she remarked. “We work hard to brand the Beehive Waxing Salon & Boutique as a place to shop, receive the best specialty waxing treatments and relax. We foster a ‘one stop’ shop environment that makes clients come with their girlfriends and make a day of it.”
