Ted Vayos, BODY: Describe your store.

Khara Cartagena: Set in the quaint Liberties Walk in Northern Liberties, The Velvet Lily is a Women’s Love Boutique which includes Sophisticated and Unique Lingerie and Lust Objects such as Lelo, We Vibe, and JimmyJane.  We cater to a discriminating customer who appreciates quality at good price points.  Some of our lines are Playful Promises, Gossard, FYI, Dirty Dolls, Commando, and Honeydew.  We are here to help you get sexy in an environment where women can feel comfortable.

Ted: What makes your store special?

Khara: Our reputation speaks for itself. And our clients say that they can find lingerie at our boutique that is different than all the others in the Philadelphia Area.

Ted: What do you look for in a brand?

Khara: We like high quality with sex appeal.  Something a little edgy and not so mainstream.  I like a lot of English designers but they have to have a distributor in the US because I don’t want to be bothered by the import taxes.


Ted: What are the latest trends?

Khara: Anything Boudoir and Sophisticated sexiness.  

Ted: Describe your price points and size ranges.

Khara: Chemises and teddies $150 and lower, bras under $90.  From small to xl

For Bras, it seems that 34c is the most popular and Medium for others.

Ted: What does the average customer spend per visit to your store?

Khara: $60

Khara: 80% female adults.
