Fourteen years ago, Florida's Fair Villa Mega Store was an adult cinema where visitors could catch the latest sexy movies. But when owner Bill Murphy noticed a trend in VHS and novelty purchases, he decided to create a retail store where adults could purchase their favorite sexy items.
Bill and his wife Shari opened Fair Villa Mega Store in 1992, a well-lit sexy shop with wide aisles and huge selections of adult apparel, toys and novelties.
As time went on, Fair Villa added two more locations in Florida and substantially increased their employee base to approximately 75 employees.
During the expansion, Bill and Shari hired director of marketing, Debra Peterson, who has since been with the company for more than nine years. And recently, Jacques Maurice, came to work with Fair Villa as apparel consultant.
Maurice worked with Coquette in Canada for several years and is now helping guide Fair Villa with his knowledge of the lingerie industry and his general retail sales experience.
"More recently, we utilize the skill of in-house visual merchandisers,"said Peterson. "We have a remarkably talented staff!"
Fair Villa Mega Store, is more than your typical adult retail store. In Fair Villa, shoppers will find antiquities of ancient erotic art.
"We create atmospheres that are inviting and inspirational," said Peterson.
Typically, women and men between the ages of 25 to 54 are found browsing through the racks of lingerie and novelties. During the Halloween season, younger ladies ages 18 to 34 stop in daily.
Aside from advertising on TV, radio and print, Fair Villa Mega Store organizes special events throughout the year to attract more customers and to teach them about adult apparel and novelties.
