According to Steven Bernstein, general manager of Anita USA, the company creates high-end shapewear because it is “complimentary to our assortment of swimwear, bras, post-mastectomy and related products.” The privately-held German company, which has been producing corsetry for 125 years, sets itself apart by overseeing the entire design process. “We use high-end fabrications, and handle the design and manufacturing processes in our own facilities, so we are able to ensure our shapewear is of the highest quality,” Bernstein said. Although Anita will stick to traditional shapewear silhouettes, Bernstein revealed that “we are currently utilizing lighter fabrications while leveraging our fit and design expertise to satisfy consumers needs.” In the coming years, he expects the shapewear market to continue to trend toward more technologically advanced fabrications that offer a light, comfortable feel combined with strong figure-contouring capabilities.
