According to Maria Santilena, vice president of sales and marketing for Lip Service, the company’s success stems “from our unique product offering to the alternative market.”
She sees the Pin-Up and Cyber trends as “continually increasing over the past year. We are focusing a portion of our clubwear directly to those markets/customers.”
She added that accessories and separates are also big trends, saying: “We are seeing more layering and accessorizing in our market; collars, waist cinchers, gloves and arm warmers top the charts.”
Clubwear currently encompasses over half of Lip Service’s merchandise offerings. Each year the company puts out various new designs per category, as well as carrying over and updating top sellers.
Santilena believes that the clubwear market “has definitely become more provocative. Many influences from the adult industry have crossed over into clubwear. All in all the market has become sexier. You see more micro minis, bra tops and waist cinchers being worn than ever before.”
