Sam Fard, president of Roma Costume, and Alan Breeden, sales manager for the company, said: “Fairy tales were big [this season]. Several of our American Indian styles were also surprise ‘sleepers;’ in the last month they just exploded.” In addition to American Indian styles, the company’s top five best-selling costumes included the female version of the Mad Hatter from “Alice in Wonderland,” the cat suit and several “of our unique schoolgirls,” including the sexy principal, which Breeden said “is sexy yet not too revealing. We also made a version in our Bedroom Costumes line that sold extremely well.” Although the company originally designed the Bedroom Costume line with intimate use in mind, consumers took it to the streets this season. “It placed very well for Halloween,” Fard said. S/M remained the company’s most popular size. Since Roma manufacturers in the United States, Breeden said selling out of costumes is not an issue, despite high demand. “We are able to consistently maintain our stock levels,” he explained. “We pride ourselves on getting costumes back in stock very quickly.”
