Janet Teller of Dreamgirl showed a seemingly endless stream of buyers the new line. From sitting in on the presentations, BODY noticed that the growing sexy company is building on its market innovations.
Included are more Quick-Change styles, which are two-in-one costumes that can be easily switched during the course of a single night. Some examples are the Tinker bell to Pirate and the Geisha to Ninja.
The company also launched more advanced light-up costumes this season. “Retailers said they did really well [in 2010],” Teller said. “They are perfect for the girl who wants to draw attention to herself.”
For 2011, several of the Light-Up styles project multiple colors, and Dreamgirl has added more fairy tale light-ups following their popularity in 2010.
BODY also noticed several styles across Dreamgirl’s line with corset boning, paired with full, ruffled and tutu skirts. “The corset look is really hot right now,” Teller said. “[We] worked to improve to construction of our boning this season.”
She added that the company was inspired by the burlesque look in several styles. Other highlights of the line include the Gothic Schoolgirl, inspired by Wednesday Addams of “The Addams Family,” and Gotta Score, based on the cheerleaders depicted in hit television series “Glee.”
Dreamgirl also grew its reversible and convertible lines, and added more couples and men’s costumes across collections.
