iFabric: EPA Registers 2 New Products

Products from Tumi, Under Armour, lululemon and The North Face on the Intelligent Fabric website.



Ontario-based iFabric Corp. announded that its Intelligent Fabric division has received U.S. EPA “registrations for two of its latest antimicrobial textile innovations.”


One of the products is bioFRESH, a “revolutionary bio-based antimicrobial technology,” according to the firm.


Giancarlo Beevis, president and CEO of the Intelligent Fabric Technologies (North America) division (“IFTNA”), explained, “as the sustainability landscape continues to evolve, bioFRESH offers a large-scale opportunity to advance environmental stewardship while maintaining superior performance in antimicrobial protection. bioFRESH provides an effective and eco-friendly solution for a wide range of applications, from textiles to healthcare facilities and beyond.”


Beevis said he was also “excited to introduce PROTX2 S, our new hydrothermal mineral-based antimicrobial technology. This innovative addition expands our product portfolio, offering customers a greater selection of antimicrobial solutions to meet their specific needs.The U.S. EPA registrations of our latest antimicrobial technologies are a testament to our ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence,” asserting that “IFTNA remains at the forefront of antimicrobial innovation.”


iFabric exphasized that “IFTNA is focused on development and sale of high-performance sports apparel, medical protective apparel, consumer protective apparel,” as well as the “ proprietary treatments that provide “intelligent” properties to fabrics, foams, plastics, and numerous other surfaces.” These “intelligent properties include antiviral and antibacterial characteristics, water-repellence and UV protection, among others.”


The company’s other division, Coconut Grove, focuses on adhesive bras and other intimate apparel solution products, many of them bearing the licensed Maidenform name. ­— NM
