Kilo Brava owner and design director Kristin Bear talked about her label and latest collection in this interview with BODY.
BODY: Can you tell us about your name, Kilo Brava (and where it came from?).
BEAR: Kilo Brava came from my initials, KB. My father is a Vietnam Veteran, and growing up, he’d always be walking around making jokes and speaking in the NATO phonetic alphabet. Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, etc etc. K=Kilo and B=Bravo. But I changed the “o” to “a” at the end of the word to use the feminine version.
BODY: Is there a Kirstin Bear style?
BEAR: Not specifically, but I design every single style, so I guess, in a way, they all are..
BODY: What are your current fashion inspirations for 2025-26?

BEAR: For Fall/Holiday 25-26 my inspiration is old Hollywood starlet mixed with Renaissance art. I love mixing ideas and inspiration and seeing what happens when you mix together old ideas to make something brand new. For Spring/Summer 26 my inspiration is flirtatious coquette mixed with the 70’s and a hint of fairy-esqe references.
BODY: Could you talk about how you coordinate your collections. How do pieces relate within a particular group? Or from one season to the next?
BEAR: Yes. For all collections, I do a mix of solids, prints, textures. And like a puzzle, they all need to marry together and make sense hanging together. Lots of our stores buy the entire line and so I always make sure our merchandising is top tier. Our solid lace bralettes go with our printed PJ’s. Our solid embroidered lingerie goes with our printed modal robes. The combinations are meant to be endless and to encourage the final customer to create their own “looks” within the collection by layering.

BODY: What is hot right now?
BEAR: Right now, our Summer 25 collection just dropped in stores and the best sellers so far are our Hawaiian Blue lace and Embroidery groups along with our printed 3-D floral mesh styles. The blue is a vibrant, happy, and sexy hue that looks stunning on all ski tones. The mesh is printed with an oversized floral print, rendered in a 3-D style that makes it appear the florals are jumping off the fabric.
